feng shui

Well, after a great week with the fam, it’s time for me to head back to sunny California. It was nice to see snow for a change and surprising my mom was priceless!

I slept in my old bedroom, which my older sister, Lindsey and I once shared. Bunk beds, heart wallpaper, pepto pink EVERYTHING. To this day, that nauseating color still haunts me. Once Lindsey hit her moody teens, we finally got our own rooms (for my personal safety).

Thank god, my parents let me change the decor and it wasn’t long until I realized my new freedom. I now had this space all to my self and started rearranging furniture immediately. Somehow I knew which way to move things around, creating a completely new vibe, a better flow of energy. It felt like second nature, intuitive and compelling. My innate sense of Feng Shui. Constantly trying different set-ups, my mom thought I was crazy… And annoying, because I was always asking her to help me with the heavy stuff.

20 years later, I still love working with interiors today. I’ve learned how space can have such a strong impact on our mood and productivity. Our home should feel like a sanctuary and our workspace should inspire creativity. Feng Shui is actually a very simple and practical set of suggestions. Even if you incorporate a few of the fundamentals, you’ll notice that everything begins to make a little more sense. Similar to art, it’s what makes something aesthetically pleasing.  A successful composition, emphasizing form and function.
